The Word Maranatha appears only once in the Bible in 1 Corinthians 16:22. Maranatha (Aramaic: \u05de\u05e8\u05e0\u05d0\u05ea\u05d0; Koin\u0113 Greek: \u039c\u03b1\u03c1\u03b1\u03bd\u03b1 \u03b8\u03b1, romanized: marana-tha, lit. ‘come, our lord!’; Latin: Maran-Atha) is an Aramaic phrase.<\/p>\n

Maranatha was used by Paul in 1 Corinthians 16:22<\/strong>;<\/p>\n

If any man love not the Lord Jesus Christ, let him be Anathema Maranatha<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Why these two words, one Greek and the other Syriac, were not translated, is not obvious. They are the words with which the Jews began their greater excommunication, whereby they not only excluded sinners from their society, but delivered them up to the divine cherem, or anathema, that is, to misery in this life, and perdition in the life to come. “Let him be Anathema” is, “Let him be accursed.” Maranatha signifies, “The Lord cometh,” or, “will come;” that is, to take vengeance<\/strong><\/em>.<\/p>\n

The second coming of the Lord Jesus Christ is no longer news today. However, believers in Christ are to be in a expectation of His second coming. The Lord Jesus Christ spoke about His second coming in John 14:1-3<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

1<\/sup> Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God;\u00a0believe also in me.<\/span><\/span>\u00a02\u00a0<\/sup>My Father\u2019s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there\u00a0to prepare a place for you?<\/span><\/span>\u00a03\u00a0<\/sup>And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. (NIV)<\/span><\/span><\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

We believe in the second coming of Christ. His return from heaven will be personal, visible and glorious, a blessed hope for which we should constantly watch and pray (Zechariah 14:4; Acts 1:11; Titus 2:13; Revelation 1:7)<\/p>\n

\"Maranatha<\/p>\n

Before He establishes His kingdom on earth, Jesus will come for His Church, an event commonly referred to as the “Rapture.” At that time the dead in Christ will be raised and living Christians will be caught up to meet the Lord in the air and be with Him forever (1 Corinthians 15:51\u201354; 1 Thessalonians 4:14). In this resurrection, those who have died in Christ will have their redeemed souls and spirits united with a body similar to Christ’s glorified body. Christians living at the time of this event will not die, but will be changed to be like Christ (1John 3:2). This expectation is a motivation for holy living, as well as a source of comfort (1 John 2:28; 1 Thessalonians 4:18). No man knows the day or the hour when this will take place (Matt. 24:36; John 6:39).<\/p>\n

After the Rapture of the Church, Christians will be brought before the judgment seat of Christ. He will reward them on the basis of the works they have accomplished (Romans 14:10\u201312; 2 Corinthians 5:10). This is not a judgment to determine their salvation but a reward for labor on Christ’s behalf (1 Corinthians 3:9\u201315). The Rapture will also inaugurate a period that the Bible characterizes as the “great day of His wrath,” “the great tribulation” and the “time of Jacob’s trouble.” (Revelation 6:17; 7:14; Jeremiah 30:7). This time of unprecedented difficulty will affect Israel and all nations. Its purpose will be to prepare Israel for her Messiah (Zechariah 12:2, 3; 14:1\u20133).<\/p>\n

At the end of the Tribulation, Jesus Christ will return with the hosts of heaven<\/a> as well as the Church to establish the Messianic Kingdom on earth (Revelation 19:7\u20139, 14; 1 Thessalonians 3:13; Zechariah 14:9; Revelation 19:15, 16). His Kingdom will last for a thousand years (Revelation 20:2, 4\u20136). At this Second Coming, the Antichrist will be cast into the Lake of Fire and Satan will be bound for a thousand years (Revelation 19:20; 20:1\u20133). The nations and their representatives will be judged (Joel 3; Matthew 25). Israel will be restored to her land, never more to be removed (Amos 9:15; Ezekiel 34:28). Christ will reign with firmness and equity (Psalm 2:9; Isaiah 11:4). His kingdom will be marked by material and spiritual blessing, since the curse upon the earth will be removed (Romans 8:19-21).<\/p>\n

The Messianic kingdom will close with apostasy and rebellion (Revelation 20:7\u20139). God will crush this uprising in the last battle of the ages and Satan will be thrown into the lake of fire (Revelation 20:10). All those who rejected the Word of God will be resurrected (Revelation 20:11\u201313). They will be judged by Christ and cast into the lake of fire, the place where they will suffer final and everlasting punishment (Revelation 20:14, 15; Mark 9:48).<\/p>\n

After this judgment there will be a new heaven and a new earth<\/a>, where righteousness is the norm (2 Peter 3:13). There will be a new Jerusalem and the everlasting presence of God among all the redeemed (Revelation 21:2, 3; 2:3\u20135).<\/p>\n

What you need to do about the Coming of the Lord<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Knowing that the Lord is coming back to take the saints home, it is very important that anyone who is reading this article is born again, if not, a step of faith should be taken to be born again. Anyone who is not born again would not be with the Lord in His second coming, because they have not been transformed and thus, are not the Sons of God. Whosoever is born again have accepted Christ, they are the Sons of God as seen in John 1:12;<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"Repentance<\/p>\n

But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

All those who have given their lives to Christ have been forgiven of all their sins and they are made righteous because Christ took the place of man on the cross, he took our sins and gave us His righteousness. We are not righteous because we are doing the right things but because Jesus Christ has made us righteous in Him. (2 Corinthians 5:17, 21, Galatians 2:20)<\/p>\n

2 Corinthians 15:21<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Jesus Christ have already paid the price for the sins of everyone in the world both born and unborn, all we need to do is just a singular act of accepting Him to avoid destruction (Ezekiel 18:4, Revelation 21:8, Psalm 9:17). The Lord is waiting for you to call upon Him in repentance today (Revelation 3:20).<\/p>\n

If you want to give your life to Jesus Christ today, the prayer below will do just that, it doesn’t matter who you are and what you have done in life, He is willing to forgive you all.<\/p>\n
